My husband turned me on to Corner Gas, a quirky tv show out of Canada. The theme song that plays while the credits roll at the end of an episode starts with the line, “I don’t know the same things you don’t know,” which I just love.

I’m often so much more aware of what I don’t know than what I do. When I’m feeling stalled by that, it has helped in the past to tell myself, “You know more than you think you do.” But when one is preparing a workshop – and is doubting that one has any insights worth sharing, let alone charging people for – it feels rather like a bromide.

But if I can sing…

I! DON’T! KNOW!
THE! SAME! THINGS!
YOU! DON’T! KNOW!

…then I feel better. I know it’s the same message at heart. But turned upside down and put to music with electric guitars, it’s so much more effective. I gets me unstuck and back to work – excited instead of worried by the audacity of my venture.
