What's Normal?
Do you ever find yourself putting things off because things aren’t “normal” right now? As in, “I’ll start doing that next week when things settle down.” Or when I finish this project. Or when I get caught up.
What gets put off is usually stuff you need to do regularly, like exercise or bookkeeping or housecleaning or … well, you know what’s on your list.
Obviously there are times when matters beyond your control make your life anything but normal. But I wonder how often we use this as an excuse not to do what we want or need to do. When that mindset becomes habitual, I wonder if it creates its own drama in our lives – making any sort of work/life balance or proper maintenance nearly impossible.
How much more often is “normal” completely within our control to create than we think it is?
Oh, and what is “normal” anyway?
What if what is happening right now IS normal? And how much of that really needs fixing?
