Cheers to 2009

January 1, 2009

In cleaning and purging my computer files recently, I came across a new year’s postcard that I designed in the very early stages of my VA practice, but never sent. It’s a very … quaint snapshot of my figuring out this entrepreneur thing and how to market myself.  A clip art image with info about my services (“As few as two hours per month!” – what was I thinking?) and the following quotations, which I seem to recall being so very pleased with at the time. What a difference four years makes…

Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right. Oprah Winfrey

  • Thank goodness we can always stop the game and shout, “Do over!”, but is there a “right”? and, if so, how do we know what it is?

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing. Abraham Lincoln

  • Well, this is very high pressure Mr. President, and likely untrue.  What about, say, one’s resolution to love?

The reason of a resolution is more to be considered than the resolution itself. Sir John Holt

  • Now we’re getting someplace interesting – now we’re getting at the nefarious “shoulds.” Bravo Sir Holt (but -um- who were you?)

They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself. Andy Warhol

  • Leave it to a kooky artist to get at the heart of the matter when it comes to resolutions.

If I were to send a postcard to you all now my simple new years wish would be that you feel capable, supported and excited about making beautiful, compassionate changes in your business and life in the coming year.  Cheers to 2009!
