Hangover Cure

May 27, 2009

Listening to my mind chatter yesterday, I heard myself say, “Wow, the holiday weekend really got the better of me.”

Well, shouldn’t it have?  Didn’t a long weekend of play deserve the better part of me? My full immersion and enjoyment seems entirely appropriate when I think about it.

And it probably needs to happen more often. No, I know it needs to happen more often. Because I was so irked it was over too soon.

That happened last time I took a long weekend a couple months ago. Did I return refreshed? No. I returned bitter that it wasn’t longer.  And that left me with one heck of a vacation hangover.

You know, the incredible difficulty of reentering into work.

It seems to take so much to let go and enjoy it, but once I do it’s so fantastic that I binge. Thus the hangover.

So I’m thinking it just might be less disruptive if it wasn’t so rare. If I gave more time more often to play, I wouldn’t be so thirsty for it. And I could avoid this disorienting headache.

It is Wednesday, not Tuesday – right?
