a special Bite the Candy workshop
with technology-to-english translator Wendy Cholbi

You know you should be doing them. You want to do them. You just aren’t sure how to do them. Join this special Bite the Candy session and get ‘em done (finally) while having fun and gaining some technological confidence at the same time.

You’ve been meaning to get around to it.

You know that doing your work would be easier if you just updated that bit of software or upgraded that service. But you’re nervous about tackling it. What if you mess something up in the process and you make things worse? Ack.

And because you know something could go wrong, you also know you should backup everything beforehand (something you know you should be doing anyway). Which you’re also nervous about doing – probably for the same reasons.

Suddenly this seemingly small bit of maintenance has become a huge investment of time and emotional energy. No wonder you’ve been putting it off!

What if there was a fun and painless way you could cross the tasks of backing up your data and upgrading your tools off your to-do list?

Technology-without-tears expert Wendy Cholbi will be bringing her whizbang technology skills and compassionate support to a special Bite the Candy workshop devoted to the backups and upgrades you know you should be doing, but haven’t.

The workshop will include all the elements that make make Bite the Candy so effective – camaraderie and humor, some structure and gentle accountability, energizing ourselves and our space – plus lots of technological know-how from Wendy to guide us.

It’s a combination of smarts and setting that pretty much guarantees your success in getting this stuff done. Finally.

The Workshop

Thursday, June 10
9:30am – 12:30pm Pacific
[that's 12:30-3:30pm Eastern - convert to your time zone]

Wendy will open this 3-hour workshop with a discussion of common apprehensions about backups and upgrades, specific how-to information, along with calming reminders that technology is our friend. Participants will also have a chance to ask questions of Wendy before diving into the work session.

Then, just as in a regular Bite the Candy session, we will share what we intend to accomplish for the session and cheer each other on. After separating to work for 45 minutes, we’ll come back together to check-in and recharge, then return to another 45-minutes of work before gathering for a final time to celebrate our successes.

And if you get stuck on something during a work period? You can call on Wendy and myself for personal support and guidance as needed.

What sort of backups and upgrades will the workshop cover?

• backups: your data, website, passwords, etc.
• upgrades: software, WordPress, plugins, etc.

What if I have questions before the workshop?
You’ll have access to a private online space with information about how to prepare for the workshop and ask Wendy questions beforehand. We want you to be prepared to get the most from the work sessions.
